Welcome to Healthcare Resources, a non profit organization dedicated to helping local communities gain access to quality health care at reduced rates.

As a new member, you and your participating family members are entitled to many money-saving benefits that have been individually planned for your health and well-being. The information and suggestions indicated on this page were designed to help you benefit from the services that are currently available through our growing network of health care providers.

Some of our participating providers also offer free services such as: mammograms, pap smears, immunizations, family planning, and pregnancy tests. For detailed information on if you qualify for these free services, please contact Member Services or our participating providers directly.

Selecting a Doctor

As a member of the Healthcare Resources program, you have access to our growing network of health care providers. You have the freedom of selecting your own doctor by the area, their specialty and or your language preference. In addition, there is no need for a referral from any doctor to see a specialist. However, it is always best to select doctor(s) that you are comfortable with, to see on a regular basis.

Healthcare Resources along with our generous participating providers are here to make quality health care affordable to millions of low to moderate income individuals and families. All medical service fees have been pre-negotiated by Healthcare Resources and are currently at the lowest rates available for our members. Please remember to follow the pre-negotiated prices as a courtesy to our providers. For detailed costs of their services, please call Member Services.

Accessing Care

Healthcare Resources provider's office operates just like any other private doctor¡¦s office. When you need to see a doctor, specialist, chiropractor, acupuncturist, optometrist, or dentist, please refer to your provider directory to schedule an appointment. To obtain our discounted rates, simply present your membership card and pay the required office visit fee.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Refer to your Provider Directory for all your health care needs.
Regular check-ups can prevent or lessen the severity of a number of serious medical conditions.
If you need to see a specialist right away, remember that you do not need a referral from any doctor.
Occasionally, some of our providers will offer free services and or money-saving products to our members. For more information regarding these services and or products, please contact Member Services.
Prescription by mail programs are recommended for individuals who are taking medications for maintenance purposes. For more information, check with your local pharmacy.
Before leaving your doctor's office, discuss the possibility of your doctor prescribing generics as opposed to brand named drugs. Brand named drugs are liable to incur a higher cost, so generics will definitely save you money. Both generics and brand name drugs contain the same active ingredients; they are the same in strength dosage and have the same effect on the body. Generics carry the same directions and warnings that meet the same government quality control standards. Please refer to the lists below on some common brand name medications and their money-saving generic equivalents.

PHARMACY

With the Healthcare Resources pharmacy network you can generate savings of up to 70%. Whether you have the Basic or Comprehensive Plan, your card is accepted at over 50,000 national and independently owned pharmacies. You can travel with no worries when it comes to all of your prescription needs. Presentation of your membership card will assure you of receiving the lowest available prices for your prescriptions with no limits of use. To save even more money, remember to ask your pharmacist if the prescription by mail program is available through their pharmacy. PARTICIPATING PHARMACIES

Sav-on, CVS, Longs, Kmart, Sams Club, Wal-Mart, Vons and Target pharmacies are some examples of the major chain pharmacies that accept our prescription benefit card. In addition to these, many independent pharmacies also take part in our prescription program. To find out if a pharmacy, not listed here, accepts your card, please contact Member Services or the pharmacy directly.

LABORATORY

Within our list of providers you also have access to laboratories in your area for all of your blood work needs. Laboratories are located throughout Southern California will provide you with savings of up to 60%.

RADIOLOGY

Our participating radiology center (x-rays and imaging) have the latest equipment and technologies to maximize accuracy and minimize discomfort. Save up to 60% for all of your radiology services.

URGENT CARE

Urgent care is available through some of our participating health care providers for problems that occur usually after business hours. Urgent care facilities are there to assist you with non life threatening occurrences. Always call for business hours as hours will vary from each provider. If you do have a life threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately.

DENTAL CARE

Our network of dental providers offers our members professional services at their lowest possible rates. Specialists such as endodontist, orthodontist, periodontist, pedodentist and oral surgeons are also available.

VISION CARE

Our provider list also includes Optometrists for basic eye exams and Ophthalmologists for serious eye diseases. The savings for basic eye exams are up to 58% and up to 50% on frames and lenses.

ACUPUNCTURE & HERBAL MEDICINE

Healthcare Resources have also added experienced, licensed Acupuncturists and Herbal Medicine practitioners to our network. You can now save up to 50% on what is being referred to as the "alternative medicine".
